“Jesus said to the women,’ Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee; there they will see me.’”

Ac. 2,14-22b-32 Ps.15 Mt. 28,8-15

Easter Monday 28h March 2016

“Jesus said to the women :’Do not be afraid ; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee ; there they will see me.”

Ac.2,14.22b-32 Ps.15 Mt.28,8-5

"Filled with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tell his disciples.

And suddenly coming to meet them, was Jesus. ’Greetings’ he said. And the women came up to him and clasping his feet, they did him homage. Then Jesus said to them ’Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee ; there they will see me."J

Jesus remains the same, and from this there begins a new way to be present in our daily life, wherever the place we encounter others.

The Joy of the Ressurection makes of these women courageous mesangers who had gone to the tomb : their heart is all joyful : Jesus is Alive!

They run bearing the news to the disciples, and behold it is Jesus who comes to their encounter, this is the way Jesus shows them his thanks.

By his Ressurection, Jesus was united to us all, he awoken the heart of these women travelling together, they now have the responsibility of announcing the Ressurection to the Apostles. Like them, the Church, still today, prosterns before her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, forever giving the Good News of the Ressurection.

So in this way Jesus shows his great desire to be announced to the world so as to draw it to Himslef and to save it.

The Bride’s desire corresonds to the desire of the Bridegroom, the mystery of divine love will be able to come about :’My soul thirsts for God, my flesh desires it for ever more’ said the Psalmist.

"Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests all that had happened. These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum of money to the soldiers with these instructions : ’This is what you must say :’ His disciples came during the night and stole him away while he was asleep.’

When Judas betrayed Jesus and he was condemned to death there was question of money and lies. Once again the liar will be at work to mask the Resurrection. Despite the opposition that the Church will undergo, the Risen Lord Jesus will be announced to all generations.

Someone tried to wipe the tears from our eyes, came to show his incredible Goodness, sign of the Beauty of God.

We are here to comunicate in Jesus the beauty ’in person’. The womens’ reaction in the presence of Jesus express the deepest attitude of the human being before our God : adoration. Their lives were broken by Jesus’ crucifiction, their Master is given to them as they are sent out on mission : ’Go and say to my brothers, you shall see me in Galilee.’ These womens’ desire provoked the encounter with the Saviour Jesus who makes missionaries out of them. The mystery of the Church continues Jesus’ work and the Church will live the same combat as the one Christ led.

“The high priests said that if the governor should come to hear of this,we undertake to put things right with him ourselves and to see that you do not get into trouble.’ So they took the money and caried out their insructions, and to this day that is the story among the Jews.”

When Jesus looks at us he doesn’t see our betrayals, the times we did’nt pay homage his Name. But he sees our suffering, seeing how we are leading a life full of sorrows.

It is striking to see how in the Gospel Jesus brings healing, gets us out of lies, showing us what is good for us to live together, in Him.

Easter has us go outside and greet each other as people who have risen again.

It is the Morning of God in the heart of others.

These women go towards the disciples and it is Jesus who appears before them, in a very humble and personal apparition.

The Living Word that brings us alive is at work and we need the Love of the Holy Spirit so as to enter into the Ressurection of Jesu.

It is on the day of Pentecost that Peter will announce with strength the mystery of the Resurrection, so that humanity aspires with all its strength to the Gift of God.

Today the Mystery of the Ressurection is announced by women to the disciples so that they can see Jesus. It is still our daily task and our divine mission ever since our Baptism : everywhere we go to announce Christ.

We ask God for the grace to work at the announce of the Good News.

EASTER MONDAY, year ’B’

“Filled with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tell the disciples. And suddenly, coming to meet them was Jesus. ’Greetings’, he said. And the women came up to him, and clasping his feet, they did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, ’Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee; there they will see me.’”

The Joy of the Resurrection turned these women who went to the tomb into courageous messengers of Jesus. In their hearts they are so joyful since Jesus is Risen. They ran to carry the news to the disciples, and here Jesus came to their encounter. In this way Jesus is thanking them. He is united to each one of us. By His Resurrection, Jesus awakened the heart of these women who were travelling together. Now it is their duty to announce the Resurrection to the Apostles. Like them, the Church today bends down before Her Lord ,and Jesus has the Church announce the Good News of His Resurrection. Thus Jesus reveals his great desire to be announced to the world in order to draw it to Himself and save it. The desire of the bride corresponds to the desire of the Bridegroom. So the Mystery of Divine Love can come to pass : ’My soul thirsts for God, my flesh desires you always, ’says the Psalmist. Jesus said to his Apostles ’I have desired with a great desire to share this Passover with you’. The Apostles are to announce the Good News of the Coming of the Savior, of His Passion and Resurrection that saves us.

“Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests all that had happened. These held a meeting with the elders and , after some discussions, handed a considerable sum of money to the soldiers, with these instructions, ’This is what you must say, ’His disciples came during the night and stole him while we were asleep.’”

These women’s reactions in the presence of Jesus express the deepest attitudes of a human being before the One who is our Creator and Redeemer : an attitude of adoration. What a lesson for us, they show us the attitude we should adopt towards the Eucharistic Christ! “Don’t be afraid.” Just like the Apostles who were taken aback as if in a storm in fury, and like the disciples of Emmaus, we plead to Him : ’Lord, we beg you, never abandon us!’ When Judas betrayed Jesus, money and lies were at work in Jesus’ condemnation. Once again the liar will use money to cover up the Resurrection of Jesus. Nevertheless, despite the opposition the Church will have to go through, the Risen Lord Jesus will be announced to all generations. The lives of his Apostles had been broken by their Master’s crucifixion, and now Jesus, the Son of Mary and Son of the Father, gives Himself to the Church as it is sent out on Mission : ’Go and tell my brothers, you shall see me in Galilee.“These women’s desire had provoked in Jesus the encounter with Jesus the Saviour of the world. He now makes of them missionaries. The Church’s mystery continues the work of Jesus and the Church will go through the same combat as Christ did.”’And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselves and to see that you do not get into trouble.’ So they took the money and carried out their instructions, ands to this day that is the story among the Jews.“On hearing the words of the angel the women were all trembling and joyful. These women sent to go to the Apostles manifest Jesus’ desire to the brothers. These encounters bring about an immense love in their hearts. They go towards the disciples and it is Jesus who appears before them, in a very humble and personal way. The Living Word of God that vivifies us is at work and we need the Love of the Holy Spirit to enter into the mystery of Jesus’ Resurrection. It is on the day of Pentecost that Peter announces with great strength the mystery of the Resurrection for humanity. Yes, this mystery of the Resurrection for which humanity aspires with its whole strength in the Gift of God, will be revealed then. And the Master sends the women to the disciples so that they can see him. This is our daily task and our divine mission given since we were baptised : to announce always and everywhere that”every human being can rediscover Christ, so that

Christ can travel the road of our existence, in each one’s company, with the power of the truth about mankind, and about the world contained in the mystery of the Incarnation and of the Redemption, with the power of the Love that shines forth from it." (St. Jean Paul II)

We ask God for the grace to work at announcing the Good News.
