Friday 29th week Vendredi 29e semaine

“Jesus said again to the crowds ’When you see a cloud looming up in the west you say at once that rain is coming and so it does.”

Ep.4,1-6 Ps.23 Lk.12,54-59

Friday 29th week even numbered year
“Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the face of the earth and the sky. How is it that you do not know to interpret these times?”

The apostles are privileged, for Jesus teaches them on a daily basis, answering their questions every time they needed him to. He asks them to see the signs in their daily life which will allow them to direct their life and carry a judgement on world realities.

These signs that can be observed in human reality can be understood to be bearers of existential questions.

We need to recognise here the signs of divine realities, what is God’s design for humanity.

Jesus leans upon daily realities to speak to us of God’s Love, of the Tenderness he has for us. He came down to us from Heaven, bringing to us a fundamentally new Love. His coming is an overflowing gift of the Father’s Love freely given.

Jesus Presences is the ’sign’ of God’s Infinite Love for us. ’The man with a pure heat, innocent hands’ is the person who knows that everything comes to him from God and who is situated with his sisters and brothers. We are struck with how Jesus calls out to our common sense, reasoning, realism of judgement on a fraternal basis.

To receive the gift of God consists in welcoming the overflowing gift of his gratuitous Love, given in abundance in Jesus Christ.

“You know how to interpret the face of the earth and the sky. How is it you do not know how to interpret these times?

Why not judge for yourselves what is upright? For example, when you are going to court with your opponent, make an effort to settle with him on the way, or he may drag you before the judge and the judge hand you over to the officer and the officer have you thrown into prison.”

The first leaders of the early Christian communities always heeded to this advice given. The quest of truth is that of Jesus who said ’I am the Truth.’

It requires the common sense of human reasoning. If we have the humility to see the facts head on and to make use of them to give a direction to our life, we shall be established in lovely Wisdom.

In order to recognise the signs of the times we have to believe that it is these same and only Spirit of God acting in the universe and in the heart of mankind.

Jesus takes up human existence, the experience of conflict so as to help us move forward. We need to sort out any differences before going to the Judge, otherwise the judge will take our goods from us and we shall find ourselves completely stripped. Jesus situates us before God to whom all things belong, we can give him all things in an attitude of adoration for all things come from God and all things go back to Him.

“Why not judge for yourselves what is upright?”

The present ideologies wish to impose an absolute truth which is not one that is real! Each one has in their reach to reason fairly, Jesus exalted with joy then he thanked his Father to make the task easier for the little and humble ones rather than those who in the eyes of the world pass by the wise and knowleadgeable.

The beatitudes of the pure in heart, those thirsty for justice, the merciful are moved by the Holy Spirit. With much humility we know we belong to God and we wish to remain in his heart that is overflowing with Love. Receiving God’s Love with trust and surrender means to be saved. Keeping respect towards others means to accomplish what is in our reach. We adjust ourselves in God’s humility and gentleness, He gives us all we are in need of.

In God’s overflowing Love He is merciful to us and we to can then be merciful towards our sisters and brothers.

We ask Jesus for the grace to teach us the way of Love, surrender and gentleness.
