Friday of 28th week Vendredi de la 28e semaine

“You are worth more than many sparrows. Every hair on your head has been counted.”

Ep.1,11-14 Ps.32 Lk.12,1-7

Friday of 28th week even numbered year

“Meanwhile the people had gathered in their thousands so that they were treading on one another. And he began to speak, first of all to his disciples :

’Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees-their hypocrisy. Everything now that will be covered up will be uncovered, and everything now hidden will be made clear.”

Jesus wants us to live in light and transparency, for us to be truly ourselves. The father of lies acts ’incognito’, outside and on the inside, aiming to amplify our clumsiness, thus finding a resonance in our dilapidated psychology.

Beware of hypocrisy, says Jesus, for there is a subtle manner of putting one self in front of others, this doesn’t come from God and doesn’t help us to live in hope.

The leaven of the Pharisees and Herod’s partisans are bad thoughts against which we have to struggle, within ourselves and outside of ourselves. All bad desires that we must refuse. Jesus tells the apostles that it is the Love in their hearts which leads them to life.

’Beware of the Pharisees leaven’, the apostles do not understand these parables of Jesus, they think that Jesus reproaches them for having forgotten to buy some bread.

We need to be very attentive if we want to understand the Word of God, the Words He gives to our hearts, and through this everything that happens around us, and in the life in the world.

“For this reason what you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in hidden places will be proclaimed from the house-tops.

To you my friends, I say : Do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. I will tell you whom to fear : fear him who, after he has killed, has the power to cast into hell.”

If we do something bad, don’t let’s say it doesn’t matter, that no one will know, for : ’Everything that is hidden will be made known, and put in full light.’

Jesus warns us so that we may keep up hope.Indiscretions make us depressed and make others depressed. We ought to be clear in our lives! We need to combat the fear and nastiness of men. Jesus came to free us from this fear. This thought helps us to do good, to leave evil aside, and to live like Jesus. He asks us to trust in God, for He who protects us.

Jesus baptises in a fire that cleanses, one that makes our heat strong.

It is the fire of Love that has us love our brothers in the Holy Spirit of Love. And so we need to remain in thanksgiving in order to bear fruit in God’s heart, in his overflowing Love where we are already blossoming forth with Beauty.

“Can you not buy five sparrows for two pennies? And yet not one is forgotten in God’s sight. Why, every hair on your head is counted.”

The Gospel tells us to open up, to have greater hope, to fortify our faith. Even the hairs on our head are all counted.

So do not be afraid, Jesus tells us, you are worth much more than sparrows. Jesus wants to free us from ourselves.

We admire all of Creation, the lovely things God created : flowers, birds, nature.. In all things we give thanks to God.

Jesus invites us to remain in Light. For this we give our consent to God’s Work of Love, and we joyfully adhere to it. We are careful, we want to examine the beginning, the middle and the end of our thoughts as Saint Ignatius of Loyola suggests we do. The liar can get in there, we need to remain in the work of God’s Love, in ourselves and in the world.

We ask for the grace to allow God’s sun to warm us up.
