Saint Benedict 11 th July

“Jesus said to them’ In truth I tell you, when everything is made new again and the Son of man is seated on his throne of glory, you yourselves will sit on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Pt.2,1-9 Ps.33 Mt.19,27-29

“Then Peter answered and said ’Look, we have left everything and followed you. What are we to have, then?”

Saint Benedict, the patron of Europe, and his monks, put into place the Love of Jesus. The secret of the mysterious Love of Jesus in humanity is written on the blossoming of the human face.

Peter who followed Jesus with his companions is perplexed about what he himself will become. They had left everything : their work their family, and they engaged themselves with confidence following Christ. What will the sign of their success be, for they have neither money, nor power, nor worldly satisfaction.

Jesus answers by speaking about a time when ’everything is made new again’ and when history will be fulfilled with the coming of God’s Reign.

Peter and his disciples are going to be in this gap between the present time of this world and the future where Jesus will fulfil all their desires.

Jesus has already accomplished all things in giving his Life on the Cross, in rising up and in sending his Holy Spirit, and yet, everything is not yet over!

We are living in the hope of everything being fulfilled, whilst at the same time living in the present moment given over completely to Christ Jesus.

“What there will be for us” is that we continue Jesus’ work of Love.

The face of Jesus given to humanity is forever that of Jesus’ mother Mary, from whom shines forth the marvels of God’s Kingdom.

Jesus, sent by the Father, loves humanity so much that he takes on a human face from Mary. In this way he will go down into the depths of human distress, hell and the death of men in order to deliver them.

God is overflowing with Love and has us participate in his Infinite Love. This Mystery is going to be brought about until Jesus comes back again in Glory.

“Jesus said to them’ In truth when everything is made new again and the Son of man is seated on his throne of glory, you yourselves will sit on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.”

Benedict was ingenuous in so far as he gave himself completely to Christ so as to bring to mankind a new form of existence.

Benedict founds a new family founded on surrendering up everything and on welcoming the grace of God.

It is this grace which ties together members of a community together in a new way of entering into relationship, one with another which is not founded on wealth, power of self satisfaction.

This family makes more visible God’s action of Love in the world that transforms it.

When we remain in links of charity, the Holy Spirit enlightens us.

The apostles, weary and going through tense situations, take their refuge in the Heart of Jesu. Here in Jesus they intercede to the Father who is nothing but Tenderness and Goodness. They hold out in this combat so as to establish this new world in Love. God calls us to keep our heart and intelligence in truth by remaining in Him.

Peter had asked Jesus what they would get for having followed him and he receives this answer : they will have much more and in heritage eternal life.

“And everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or land for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and also inherit eternal life.”

The mission Jesus gives us is to bear witness to live out our faith in a fecundity of Love, hope in the power of the Love of God who can transform the heart of mankind.

This witness expresses the offering of the heart, by the sacrifice of our life, accepting to do so that the world might live.

The overflowing Mercy of God wants to pass through our lives that are given, with the serenity of Saint Benedict, apostle of Peace. We remain in the Heart

of Jesus, born by the prayer of the Church, even more strongly so when combat is all the more stronger.

Though adoration we enter into the mystery of Jesus and we remain there. We have the experience that each one of us, in our weakness, preservers in spiritual combat.

We move forward in conversion of our live because we lean upon communion with everyone.

The search of God in attentive reading of his Word, in praise, are the sign of hope that one can live with other people, born by the Gospel that makes us happy.

We ask for the grace that the treasure of love that Jesus’ face is will shine forth on our faces.

“Then Peter answered and said, ’Look, we have left everything and followed you. What are we to have, then?”

“What’s in it for us?” Is it not first and foremost to continue the work of Love of Jesus? Saint Benedict, the patron Saint of Europe and his monks, put into place the work of the Love of Jesus. The mysterious secret of Love of Jesus in humanity is written on the face of the human face. Jesus’ Face given to humanity is for ever that of Mary his Mother on which the marvels of God’s Kingdom shine. Jesus, the One sent from the Father, loves humanity so much that he takes from Mary a human face.He will go down as far as the innermost depths of human distress, hell and men’s’ death. He will raise humanity as far as God’s Kingdom creating a Covenant in the Holy Spirit between God and humanity on earth. God, overflowing with Love has us participate in his Infinite Love in this way. This mystery will be given until Jesus comes back in Glory.

“Jesus said to them, ’In truth I tell you, when everything is made new again and the Son of man is seated on his throne of glory, you yourselves will sit on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel.”

The Holy Spirit enlightens us when we remain in charitable links. The apostles who are tired and tempted, find their refuge in the Heart of Jesus. There, in Jesus, they intercede in the Father who is nothing but tenderness and goodness. They are steadfast in this combat to establish in Love this new world. God calls us to keep our heart and our intelligence in truth by remaining in Him. Peter, who asks Jesus what is in it for those who follow Him, hears this response : ’ He will receive much more, and will have in heritage Eternal Life.’

“And everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or land for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and also inherit eternal life.”

It is a great mystery for the Apostles : they will never leave the Risen Master again, and Jesus declares : ’You who have followed me, you will have a part in my Passion and Resurrection, you will be united to my glory.’ The overflowing Mercy of God wants us to go through our lives with the serenity that Saint Benedict had. We are called to dwell in the Heart of Jesus especially when the combat is all the more stronger and terrible, carried by the prayer of the Church. We enter into Adoration in Jesus’ Mystery and we remain there.

Let us ask for the grace that the treasure of Love of Jesus’ face may shine upon our own face and that we remain in Him.
