The extraordinary fecundity of the poor

What joy to see the extraordinary joy of the poor.It is a ’surplus’ of humanity that has an influence on the people who suround them. Could it be that the poverty they carry can bring such great life?

Saint Francis of Assisi had called this mystery of poverty’Lady poverty’. There is amysterious link with the Holy Spirit that the liturgy calls ’the Father of the poor’ (Pentecosy Hymn). Spontaneously we think of Jessu who ’lowered’ himself so greatly. We also remember Mary, Jesus’ Mother.’ He lowered Himself towards his humble servant.’ His seravnt was so poor. The welcome of the poor and and life in community allow a fecundity of the poor in l’Archeand elsewhere. It is about a real spiritual experience. Young people came to be at teh servicof the poor ’with an intellectual deficiency’. They have this amzing experience of what people with amental disability are like, how theyan give themfe! They can enter into a gift of self that is new, it is compassion. They recive life and want to give back life.
