“Then the upright will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father.”

Ex. 33,7-11; Ps.102; Mt. 13,36-43

Tuesday of 17th Week, uneven numbered year

Then, leaving the crowds, he went to the house; and his disciples came to him and said, ’Explain to us the parable about the darnel( chaff) in the field“In each person, there is a will to understand, we want things to be explained concerning the aim of things, the stake they represent. There is also the possibility of understanding how things are organized, are structured, put together, are linked together, how things are founded. The disciples requests are like imperative demands made to Jesus : ’Tell us what we ought to do and we shall do it, not as we think but as you wish”. Jesus’ disciples are indeed disturbed, and say to him, ’Lord, is it not the good seed you sowed in your field? How is it then that there are some darnel?’ Jesus tells them, ’It is an enemy that did that.’ We are before the mystery of evil, faced with the enemy. The servants tell him, ’Well, do you want us to pull it up?’ Jesus replies, ’No, because when you weed out the darnel you might pull up the wheat with it.“This parable of Jesus already prefigures His Passion for only thins will tackle right to the end the enemy of human nature! It is in each one of us that there is a combat for the truth of love. Jesus shows us the importance of patience, of waiting for the time when things are ripe, of the harvest, to separate things in our life between what is good and what is bad!”He said in reply, ’The sower of the good seed is the Son of man. The field is the world ; the good seed is the subjects of the kingdom, the darnel the subjects of the Evil One; the enemy that sowed it, the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels. Well the, just as the darnel is gathered up and burnt in the fire, so it will be at the end of time."

Our true identity -the one that makes up each one of us- is ’the sons of the Kingdom’. We all receiver our existence from this mysterious reality of the Kingdom in which we can develop ourselves and in which our existence begins,

taking our true consistence in the relationship with all the other liberties of God, of angels, of our brothers and sisters. This Parable from Jesus indicates to us that victory is assured for the little ones who are poor. It is an invitation to faith and confidence to deepen God’s knowledge within us. and so we shall allow ourselves to be led by the Holy Spirit.God wants growth for our life, for our whole being. He also desires the building up of community and. Everything belongs to God, all things come from Him and are for Him. Taking into consideration our human weakness, the Holy Spirit becomes our strength when we are moved by Him, and so we become merciful.

“The Son of man will send his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of falling and all who do evil, and throw them into the blazed furnace, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth. Then the upright will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Anyone who has ears should listen!”

Jesus expresses in this way the mystery of the accomplishment of life which God gives to mankind.God does his work, well beyond words or requests or things to be done. The reality that God gives to us is in itself something that calls us forth, for beyond anything we might do in our lives, or might say, what counts for us in our lives is that we are called by our name, by Someone. This Someone is our Beloved Father who loves us as His beloved children.

It is an invitation to discernment given to us by the Holy Spirit :’Let the darnel and the wheat grow together until the time is ripe for the harvest.’ God does not want death for the sinner, on the contrary, His deepest desire is that we, poor sinners, live and grow in joy and have the fullness of Life from Him and in Him.. God has patience, He is not the God of the dead but of the living. God invites his children let be transformed by grace so as to be truly ourselves. For this we need to be docile to His Loving Action in our lives through the Holy Spirit. As we build up a more human world, we refer to the Holy Spirit who has us enter into God’s benevolence. The Love of God is so great for us, he respects us so much that all we have to do is to put ourselves in an attitude so that we enter into his Breath of Life.

So we ask for the grace of discernment to be able to know what comes from God in us and what comes from the deceitful one.
