Tuesday of 34th week even mardi de la 34e semaine paire

"Jesus said ’Take care not to be deceived, because many will come in my name saying ’I am the one’ and ’The time is near at hand.’

Ap.14,14-19 Ps.95 Lk.21,5-11

Tuesday of 34th week even

“While some were talking about the Temple remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said ’All these things you are staring at now-the time will come when not a single stone will be left on one another, everything will be destroyed.”

The liturgy has us meditate upon the end of time. Only the Father knows the secret date when this will occur. Jesus announces the Temple’s ruin, the judgement of Jerusalem, he also refers to the persecutions that will come down upon the disciples.

The temple of Jerusalem is resplendent, people come from all over to visit it. Jesus said’ stone upon stone will be destroyed.’ Stones of a world built outside a new Love brought by Jesus. Jesus says that many will come in his name, as if it were Him, he tells us not to listen to them.

“The disciples put to him this question :’Master, when this will happen what sign will there be then that this is about to take place?”

Behind the destruction of the Temple can be seen signs of the end of the world, and in the background of the judgement of Jerusalem can be discerned the coming of the Son of man to judge the living and the dead.

The advice Jesus gives us are valid until the end of time : we need to hope and remain vigilant.

The King of the universe is a King full of Tenderness and Love, a King of Peace and of Goodness. This King Jesus is submitted to his Father, always doing his will! Like Him, He loves us right to the end, that is going as far as giving his life, his Body and Blood, keeping nothing for himself.

Truly indeed, the ways of God are not those of men. In an extraordinary splendour Christ needs the whole of humanity in order to shine forth with the Tenderness of the Father.

“When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be terrified, for this is something that must happen first, but the end will not come at once.

Then Jesus said ’Nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines in various places; there will be terrifying events and great signs from heaven.”

The future belongs to God alone, He alone knows the ultimate bearings of time and of space. The time we have to be of service and to love is on this very day. The space we have is the space in our heart so as to welcome Jesus’ Word. We have the space of the world to take in our prayer, with all the missionaries bearers of Jesus’ Peace.

We work in the night of Faith, in darkness, often in abjection, non recognition. What does it matter, the One we serve is the Lord of Glory : I was hungry, I was naked, I was sick, I was in prison, a prisoner! And You visited me? When, Lord? Each time you did so to the least of my brothers, you did it to me!

God does his work of Love in our hearts. This will be our contemplation in the Kingdom of Boundless Love.

We ask for the grace to place ourselves at the service of Jesus, and to do the Will of the Father.
