Tuesday of 4th Year Mardi de la 4e semaine

“Jesus said: my daughter, your faith has restored you to health; go in peace and be free of your complaint.”

He. 12, 1-4 Ps. 21 Mk. 5, 21-43

TUESDAY of 4th WEEK, uneven year

“When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side a large crowd gathered around him and hes stayed at by the lake. Then the president of the synagogue came up, named Jairus, and seeing him, fell at his feet and begged him earnestly, saying, ’My little daughter is desperately sick. Do come and lay your hands on her that she may be saved and may live.”

How lovely it is to see how faith spreads between Jesus, Jairus, the women who was losing blood, those who witness this encounter. It is during his daily life that people appeal to Jesus, where he reveals himself, without retracting the announce of the death of Jairus’ young daughter. at each encounter, he proposes his partner to also take a further step, just from right where he is! A desperate man falls at his feet and begs him to come and heal his little girl who is on the verge of dying. Jesus goes with him. On his way,a woman comes and takes hold of him, saying to him : If I touch his clothing, I’ll be healed! Jesus is literally invaded by the requests to heal. He saves each one from their trial for at each moment he “works” with his father who acts.

“Jesus went with him and a large crowd followed him; they were pressing all around him.Now there was a woman who had suffered from a hemorrhage for twelve years ; after long and painful treatment under various doctors, she had spent all she had without getting any better; in fact, she was getting worse. she had heard about Jesus, and she came up through the crowd and touched his cloak from behind, thinking, ’If I can just touch his clothes, I shall be saved. And at once aware of the power that had gone out from him , thinking ’If I can just touch his clothes, I shall be saved.’ And at once the source of the bleeding dried up, and she felt in herself that she was cured of her complaint.’

But they make fun of Jesus when he asks who touched him !” You see how the crowd is pressing round you; how can you ask , ’Who touched me?’

This woman knows that Jesus has entered into contact with him : ’It was I“. Jesus said to her :”Go, your faith has saved you". The woman finds the courage to speak of her situation, she who because of her illness had been put on the outskirts of society ! So Jesus can speak to her with a Word that joins them

together and so they can encounter each other with mutual recognition. Faith receives public recognition, it is called to grow, to be known, it gives the power to for her to take up her place amongst her own children. This woman can go further, pursue her own path of life which is marked by this encounter. This woman and this man believe in Jesus who works healings.

“Jesus comes to the president of the synagogues’ house, some people said Your daughter is dead; why put the Master to any further trouble?. So Jesus turned them all out, and taking with him the child’s father and mother and his own companions, he went into the place where the child lay. and taking the child by the hand , he said to her : ’Talitha Kum!’ which means: Little girl, I tell you to get up.’ The little girl got up at once and began to walk about, for she was twelve years old.” Jesus talks to people, teaching them and lets himself be touched by them. His word is a teaching, it opens up a dialogue that leads to a request. Jesus goes then with all he has, with everything that makes up his being. The news of the daughter’s death has jesus call forth this man, inviting him to go beyond death and to believe in the possibility of something beyond it.“Do not be afraid, believe only.” A path of truth open sup for this man, to know how t live simply faithful to whatever happens. Jesus calls us to live out our faith right in the middle of our daily life, he calls us to live it out fully knowing that it is capable to take us beyond th loss of death and to come back from it. All this surprises the people of his country. For us too it is about our faith, faith in the Infinite Love of God. We need to love in order to have faith in love, we want to be loved, to be recognized, and we come up against the lack of faith. The attitude of an absence of faith prevents Jesus to act, to come to our help. God is capable of giving us a love that goes beyond all trials. Jesus acts for us in such an amazing way if we believe in him.

We ask God for the grace of faith so that jess may save us.
